Hey you lumped Mastermind and Inquisitive into one thing and I don't approve because I love both of those subclasses equally
@JoCat its like knitting, you need to leave one mistake in or your soul is trapped in the finished piece
@JoCat You know, it was once said that the greatest masterpieces always contain one intentional flaw because attempting to create perfection angered god. Also, get Observant on your Inquisitive, and walk around with 20+ passive perception and ruin all your DMs traps.
@Anthony Staton yes that was
Was that Puffin Forrest?!
@JoCat you need to unattune to the magic item
Funni Rogue
I only play rogues but I consider it proof of real life character development that they're no longer edgy
haha I play rogue but it's more like he keeps stumbling into situations and just has a peculiar set of skills that come in handy every now and then, otherwise he's just kinda tagging along
I once had a rogue who lied to his party to look more edgy, it was amazing when the other characters found out that his mum and dad were safe and actually very well off in the countryside lmao
My rogue is a happy go lucky boyo who's not dark and brooding. He just was a prince in his rite of passage that learned at a school to be a bad boy.
Anyone else get a Deus Ex vibe from 2:46?
I am still confused by your biology
So far I've only played rogues. Had a human assassin merc who had a somewhat rough background. A dishonored hobgoblin who'd taken on an assassin's mantle and forged his own code of honor and helped liberating slaves in a city ran by slaver, but jailed for his (based) crimes against slave-owners. A non violent halfling thief taking on a haunted mansion job due to debts. And now a socially awesome foreign swashbuckler. Who instead of brooding at the tavern goes around mingling with people, getting the latest news and rumors.
I've played rogue, but never edgy rogue. Am I doing something wrong?
I am playing a rogue and he was exiled, joined a clan, then later joined the party.not as much of the dark streets as much of the, this is actually useful aspect part
I made a rogue and his race is a Loxodon. Think about that. An elephant as the sneakiest class. I made him because I thought it would be funny and I haven’t used him yet.
Swashbuckler illustration had me laughing way too hard
And now you know how to play Galgith! You're welcome.
In our campaign, the rogue is our comic release. We had an encounter with a Red Wizard and his guards, and we accidentally killed 2 of their skeletons, because we wanted to go around them to avoid fighting, but the skeletons were right infront of us. We rolled a persuasion, and convinced the guy to let us go, because it was an accident, and we didn't know those belonged to them. We were allowed to leave, but the guy sent another two skellyboys after us so that he can make sure we wouldn't go back. The skeletons stopped after following us for 10 minutes, and just stared at us, not doing anything, even when our tabaxi rogue poked his finger into one of the skellies eyesocket. Long story short, even tho I (a monk aarakocra) tried to convince the others not to kill them, because we could anger the guy more if he finds out, we demolished them. We took a skull and some ribs so that we can craft out of them later, and the mother flippin rogue built 2 scarecrows out of the dead skeletons, and left a note on a nearby bark saying "Thanks for the bones, sucker". It was hilarious.
TATAKAE
Stereotyped Rogue: *deep and dark backstory* Meanwhile my pirate rogue: *left her home willingly bc she got bored*
Crap guide to Tasha’s. When.
2:31 le scunt
JoCrap: "Who can be grumpy on Christmas?" Me: "THE GRINCH!!!"
one of the guys i play with always play rogue with edgy background including being an orphan all the fucking time so the dm forced him to have loving and caring parents that he must visit at least once every single campaign or he would receive zero exp
So um... anyone know the.. anime gif he used........?
This video is edgier than part 3 Jotaro's face
Puffinforest?
The beginning is kinda funny to me because the rogue in my party is the most social person and is honestly pretty bard-esque
imagine having your stereotypical brooding rogue standing at the corner of the tabern squinting and looking like he's ready to fight anyone that talks to him but the plot twist is that he has astigmatism and cant see shit around him
HA HA Lightfoot halfling go +5 DEX MOD
I... have been called out
Rogue players👋
How did he guess my backstory
arcane trickster is the best rogue, they can have a familiar that can give you advantage on pretty much every round, they can use illusions to enhance every aspect of their craft. they can make a shadow blade and use it to do even more ridiculous damage. what does assassin do? they get extra damage sometimes...
I was the Rogue in my first game of D&D. I think I was 10 at the time. I remember almost nothing about it except every time we entered a room my party would shout, in sink, "JOHN (not my real name) SEARCH FOR TRAPS". Although it was annoying back then but funny to look back on. because of this, the Rogue is my favourite class.
You're laughing now but just wait till I pull up with my College of Blades bard/Swashbuckler Rouge to give you the old shank and spank
Inquisitive Rogue master race.
timy is drinking tea with the local blacksmith
Watching this after the Diablo 4 blizzcon trailer
From my understanding rouges primarily pick locks for the party and contribute a decent amount of damage in combat
Rogue = Edgelord
Rogues are meant to be dark and edgey Me: huh... seems I'm just a ace Bard that's cosplaying a Rogue. Welp.
My rouges backstory? He worked on a farm, got bored, and left to find something more exciting. Thus he met the party. He is currently regretting it after being batted across a field by an ogre (with a broken hand because I crit with a rock) and cracking a few ribs and braking his spine... My dice hate me.
So I’m playing a rogue right and he’s back story is he a rich kid who’s bored of being a rich kid and I shit you not the DM looks at my backstory and under he’s breath says yes no edge
I started playing my first campaign and chose the rogue, I decided that my character should only speak 4 words per phrase as a personality trait... Just to make sure the edge is on point
My rouge character: I like shopping! My friend's sorcerer character: You mean shoplifting? My rouge character: Yeah, that!
My Rouge character is actually pretty peppy 0-0 am I doing life wrong. Oh wait never mind, my obsession for cute but insane anime girls still exists.
GZGSGSHSHS I JUST NOTICED THE SCOUT ROGUE LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE SCOUT FROM TF2
(hides half-elf rogue behind back) *Shhhhhhhhh* Rogue will always be the best in my eyes.
...This hit too close.
JoCat: rogues always have edgy backstories. Me: never had a rogue with edgy backstory, a tragic one maybe but not edgy (he was a former bailif and had neutral good alignment ).
Just realised Ben was in this haha
Im gonna create a rogue character that actually had a really cushy life, and learned all of those weird skills out of sheer spite
time to name one succ nasty
Might have spat my drink out at the assless chaps in the beginning
Hey uh whats anime is the clip at 1:07 from
phantom???
1:21 the siblings stoutbough
so, i just got into dnd and i made an edgy rogue by accident- and when i discovered that edy rogues are hated i kind of felt bad, so im trying my best to make the experience enjoyable to the other players and dm! here's a list of things i do -i asked the dm suggestions to the backstory, he added a cool feature to it (bassicly that his parents where cursed to have a furry child and that's why they hate it) -i made some characters that can beat the rogues ass, and that are looking for him (this helps the backstory and also the dm to make some scenario ideas!) -the rogue will actually help the party- he kind of feels like a problem to them so he has to repay somehow, also he needs to be protected because a mafia is looking for him -i dont use sneak attack because i dont know how- -i base some of the decisions in "that's what my character would do", but i asume the consequences of those actions im not sure if im doing good and that's why i leave this here, what do you guys think? am i doing good or should i change something?
I'm in this Vid, and i dont like that.
My favorite rogue back story goes like this My mom was a lock smith who taught me the trade and my dad was a drunk asshole who taught me to steal wallets I have no reason to be here other than I want to fuck with people and leave them guessing about reasoning for doing things That's it I roll a general rogue sheet with whatever variation I choose and don't bother being and edgy asshat I've yet to find a dm who didn't enjoy the fact that I never once tried to betray the group and that I wasn't an edge lord drama queen that said having such a generic character can make longer story lines boring so I kinda have to make a better back story when we're gonna do a long one but for a quick one shot that only last a month at most they don't need my entire life story they just need enough to know who I am and what I'm generally about I did once leave an overly cautious group to go off on my own with the dms approval (I don't like making the dms life any harder than neseccary) and ended up having more fun by quietly texting the dm and clearing all enemy npcs out of the way of the main groups path and putting them all on edge for like three sessions then just sitting at the entrance to the big bads castle for two more sessions as the group stayed in the same tavern less than a mile from the castle thinking the castle was to obvious and the big bad was clearly a patron at the tavern then they thought I was the big bad when they went to the castle yeah me and the dm decided to find a new play group after that they were just no fun to play with they were overly attached to their characters and one girl literally broke down crying when her character died in the boss fight
I was thinking of a Dragonborn roque character who was orphaned because of a family tradition where the new born must be raised on the streets, being a dragon he has a unhealthy dose of greed for gold and wishes to have enough of it to sleep on, his plan to do this is order a drink from a tavern throw the mug out the window say he lost the mug retrieve the mug and sell it to another tavern owner and than repeat the process.
Le phantom rouge also exists
Scout Rogues: Bonk! Actual Scout Rogues: Stelthin arownd shootin peples wiv bows en stuf(I think because I have not read the scout subclass in a while, or played a scout, or played a rogue.)
Is it bad that I mainly wanna be a rogue just because I don't wanna pay for stuff?
Is the ending a reference to SAO? Shit Anime by the Way
Welp time to be a pirate
You can't make a rogue second class bard?
My rogue assassin grew up in a loving home with his parents. He just enjoys killing and stealing 🤷🏻♂️
Funny thing is, my rogue is the comic relief and the party face.
Debbie going on a date with the rouge is adorable
What if my rogue isn’t edgy

2:56 Terrarians: how cute
Everyone fights their way through the dungeon while the rogue hacks the controls to decativate the entire defense system.
If i ever play a rogue, its gonna be a non-angsty funny boi
Me, a person who has never played DnD or DM'd: Can I make my rogue just a normal dude who just likes thievery?
I pick rouge so I can steal stuff.
I've been playing an unchained rogue (sylph) in a pathfinder campaign for a few years now(yes, I know, not DnD, but similar enough for the purposes of this post). My characters parents(both human) are dead, but that's more because they died peacefully in old age since my character is in her eighties(sylphs can live to be several hundred years old, being descendants of elementals). She learned acrobatics by climbing everything she could growing up, and all together like wandering and just doing whatever interests her, generally causing havoc as she goes around, mostly cuz I wanted her to do whatever she felt like(including joining a slave trading ring, then proceeding to destroy it because she was bored). Her motivation for money is that she's married to a paladin that keeps taking in orphans, so she's got a lot of Mouths to feed. I love her, and she can currently fly, so I'm having a lot of fun just dropping from the ceiling to just cleave enemies to death with the sheer amount of sneak attack she can do.
2:30 Scout, wrong game,go back to teufort
I’m currently playing a rouge who has all the stereotypes. Well, the thing is, this rouge is a hot headed three foot tall hafling. This soon led to the entire party calling my halfling a child just because they saw it annoyed him. Probably my favorite character to play so far. He also isn’t neutral or evil. He’s actually good. And a good bit of a coward if no one else is in danger. Such a wonderful character to play.
I remember making a rogue using point buy, I had 10 in all stats and i remember pumping points into Charisma Dex and Constitution I gave him intimidation and stealth proficiency, I also gave him investigation and persuasion. He has a rapier, daggers, and a longbow, still waiting for the next group DND session, my rogue is also a dark elf so a boost to dex and charisma I believe, for my double proficiencies I chose intimidation and stealth, mind you my character is short as hell, and is batshit crazy, I put points in charisma so that I am really good at talking people out of shit, into shit, doing shit, not doing shit, telling us shit and etc. This was my first DnD character, I think I did well...
Why is this Rogue constantly wearing oven mitts...? 🤔
My first character was a halfling arcane trickster, and she was childish, friendly and cheerful. Her main goal was to make people to trust her and then steal from them or cheat in games or rip them off and disapear with all their money. You know, that little happy halfling girl is not going to hurt us, right?
(Her real age was 30) Also, she really got along well with the bard, they party together.
i have a rogue in my party that has an ability thanks to his backstory that allows anyone in a 3ft radius to hear piano man if he so chooses
0:24 - waaaait a second! Was that Puffin Forest?
Why does everyone dis the Ranger
Most people playing rouge: E D G E Me playing rouge: POCKET SAND, SNEAK ATTACK
I'm playing a rogue They're described as "agressively friendly" They're also an ex circus performer turned thief because they enjoy the finer things in life
Then there is my rogue who had a soldier background. She was a hl fling who didn't trust wimps because she was scouting ahead for her part of the military and her group got ambushed they ran away while she stayed. Basically I made a sneaky soldier because I was slowly coming out of my first dnd game mindset.
What if I made a rogue that didn't have a tragic backstory but he's just a kleptomaniac Lol
1:19 That hit home. Oof! Too true! *Steadily grows more anxious about every collective time this has happened*
What is the anime name?
0:40 when you roll a nat 1 on a charisma check
I'm a rogue all in black and has a dark backstory BUTTTTTTTT I'm a half-ork half halfling that looks like an ork but the size of a halfling
The phantom rouge would also exist here
Rogue backstory options 1) former street urchin turned murder mastermind supreme 2) goblin
Now I want to play a Rogue without an edgy backstory. Someone who just picked up lockpicking as a hobby because it's neat😂 And he wears black because he is from a snowy place and he kept getting lost as a kid so they made him wear black so he was easier to find everytime he was lost
Omg i was playing this in the background and didn't even have to look at the title to know what this was... rogues are... something else
Ah. My older brother loves playing rouge as a thief. The DM doesn't know what they're doing he will get overpowered loot in no time.
“But I’m not evil! I’m chaotic good, I promise!”
My rouge isn't an edge lord he just has a sensitivity to light and likes black because it helps him stay warm.
1:06 Which anime?
