A symbol of religion? How about a symbol of suffering, redemption, victory, and overcoming death through Jesus Christ? The name of the founder of Christianity the author refuses or is unable to speak out of humanistic fear.

so war bad? And yet! And yet! - - Gather around me O! ye death-defiant, and the earth itself shall be thine, to have and to hold. What is your “civilization and progress” if its only outcome is hysteria and downgoing? What is “government and law” if their ripened harvests are men without sap? What are “religions and literatures” if their grandest productions are hordes of faithful slaves? What is “evolution and culture” if their noxious blossoms are sterilized women? What is “education and enlightenment” if their dead-sea-fruit is a caitiff race, with rottenness in its bones?

I've been a huge fan of Zdvislaw Beksinski since I was first introduced to his work at nine years old, I'm twenty three now. Four years ago I found a first edition copy of his art book from the 70s for 12 dollars - It has since been appraised for over 1,000. The presence of his work is otherworldy. I still look at his paintings almost every single day.

Yeah... all Poles got through the war time thraumatically. But we kinda like it because it shows how strong we are to survive with our culture and patriotism. Some of us became dead-like to be alive. Beksiński is great example of it

I bet that some or most of the stuff he deconstructed in this video is dead wrong. So why even open your mouth? Also, this comment is suppose to be admired without asking what it means. So if you decide to hit the "reply" button, ask yourself, why even open your mouth?

Even without an intended meaning, the meaning of paintings is a look into the psyche of the artist. Something of yourself goes into everything you create.

"He had nothing else to say in that art form"...… That hit me differently. The overall themes in these paintings looks like a battle of spirituality and the possibility of something or nothing beyond the haze of the backgrounds of the paintings. just beautiful.... ....But none of that matters.... Thank you for the video, my friend

He makes me feel proud to be Polish and has always inspired me. I dont know what it is but whenever I look at his art I feel like i know him and I also feel emotions I cant really explain. Im 16 and ive been around art my whole life, being an artist myself and the things he created have an affect on me that no other artist ever had. Theres a ton of things i can say about all of this but I dont know if words can really express that . also, i cant believe he got murdered practically on my birthday 21.02.2005 by getting stabbed..... oh and this video is really well made. thank you

"In this sign, thou shalt conquer".... I was first used by Emperor Constantine, in reference to the "cross". He was the first of the"Christian Roman Emperors", and was the one who originated using the Cross as the symbol representing Christianity (in place of the Fish, or Anchor etc). The Cross, besides being the symbol of ultimate sacrifice "of the son to the father", but also resembles a sword sticking out of a slain soldier. Keep in mind, all of Europe was conquered under that symbol (then the New World as well). It's not a wonder, that the Nazis would continue on with that typography.... using their "broken cross", which represents "Thor's hammer" in Norse tradition, and "the totality of everything" in Hindu traditions (among other things).

How like a "nihilist" to amass a fortune and die because they were too stingy. I think his art is quite stunning and he did good work and showed the horrors of the forecasted fascist futures. To me it is all very openly and explicitly anti-Christian, anti-war, anti-fascist, and anti-capitalist, wouldn't you say? Funny to make a video interpreting it so vaguely.

thank you for introducing this artist to me. showing this to my partner has been a great inspiration to him; in fact, we found a book valued in the hundreds of his prints at our library and he's getting it to read as of tonight, we're hoping another library will loan a box set of more of his work to us in the future, he's an aspiring artist who just recently got into it, so i can't help but think this video unlocked something for him which is hilarious, he's the sweetest goddamn koala of a human being but he always draws beautiful strangeness

If Beksinski was alive today, he would probably have hated this video. For eg, how you pigeonholed a lot of his work in to Nazism and the Holocaust category. You said it yourselves that a person is more than his experience and yet you did just the reverse. But thanks anyhow, it was fascinating to look at his plethora of works.

So this video was recommended to be by the YT algorithm, and I have a stream of consciousness I hope someone can help me with. I had no clue who this dude was before this video, and I haven't seen one of his paintings before. But I feel like I've saw and continue to see them all the time. I dont mean literally, and I dont mean with my "minds eye" or imagination. Its impossible for me to explain. I can look at something, blink, and during that blink it's like whatever I was just looking at is transposed into one of his "worlds" he has painted. Again I don't imagine it, there's no picture in my head of this, yet the resemblance of what I've "seen" and his paintings is unbelievable. It has shook me. In fact it rattled me bad enough to come forth with this dribble I'm typing right now and see if there is anyone else with something similar going on with them. It makes no sense to be able to see something in your mind without an actual picture also in your mind, but that's the best way to describe how I remember these things I've saw. And it's like this man was able to reach into my mind and draw what I saw without me even seeing it. I know this makes close to zero sense, I guess I just want to know I'm not alone with this
